Ambassador Monji’s meeting with the members of the Tohoku Canada-Japan Society
On October 11, 2016, Ambassador Monji met with the members of the Tohoku Canada-Japan Society, who visited Canada on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Society.
Ambassador Monji briefed the Society on recent Japan-Canada relations including Prime Minister Trudeau’s official visit to Japan, while Mr. Hiroaki Takahashi, Chair of the Society, explained the activities of the Society and the purpose of their visit to Canada. They also exchanged views on a wide range of opportunities for cooperation between Japan and Canada in the future.
During their stay in Canada, the members of the Society met with people to thank them for their support for the Tohoku region after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011. They also met with business people to exchange their views about the 3rd Joint Chamber Symposium of the Japan-Canada Chambers Council, scheduled for April 2017 in Sendai, Japan.
