The 3rd Japan Karate Association (JKA) Shōtōkan Karate-Dō Junior Tournament in Ottawa

On June 10th, the 3rd JKA Shōtōkan Karate-Dō Junior Tournament was held at a community center in Ottawa. A total of 55 young karate-ka between the ages of 6 and 14 from 7 dojos in Ontario and Québec participated.

At the opening ceremony, an official from the Embassy of Japan gave words of encouragement to all the participants. From white to brown belts, there were matches of kata and kumite for each category along with team kata performances, so that children were able to show the results of their practices. In front of a big audience including their family, young karate-ka played sincerely in their matches and competed vibrantly.
